Russia experience a lot of different holidays that warm the hearts of the locals even in the coldest time of the year. Christmas, which many people may not know falls on the 7th of February. This is when Father Christmas, not Santa (as the western World has come to know him) visits and brings gifts and merriment to the cold time in Russia. New Years eve is also a very special time in Russia as it marks a 10 day public holiday filled with hugging, fireworks, snowmen and family. No Russia holiday is complete without a feast, and the Russians do it best with extravagant displays of food and drink that brings the family together to enjoy this special time of year.
