If you wished to study aerodynamics, you would only need to look at the very early aircraft designs, such as the Bleriot XI. There are no high bypass ratio turbofans, nor upper deck lounges, nor global positioning systems. Instead, the aircraft is a sheer expression of the design solutions needed to overcome the four forces of flight: lift, weight, thrust, and drag.
