The ancient mystery of the Roopkund Lake, also known as Mystery Lake or Skeleton Lake in the state of Uttarakhand in the Himalayan Mountains range are getting finally unraveled due to the advancements in technologies in the field of archeology. The Roopkund Lake is situated at an altitude of 5,029 meters above sea level in the lap of the popular Trishul peak. The ice melts only for one month every year and it is possible to see the several skeletons strewn on the bed of the lake and its vicinities. The lake remains frozen for the balance eleven months and nothing is visible.
