The sport fishing industry in PV has been popular since long before the area became a hot getaway. The warm, deep waters of the bay combined with massive offshore and underwater structures that hold prey fish and other species attract game fish in droves, and international visitors have clamored to the area since the 1930s. Today, many PV Mexico vacations are based entirely around fishing and touring Bandera Bay. Huge tuna, marlin, and sailfish are regularly caught here, and each year the bay sees humpback whales surfacing with their newborn young.
