Shopping in Oaxaca, Mexico: The New Reality Regarding Bargaining

Things have changed dramatically since the 60s, 70s and 80s, regarding acceptable practice when shopping and bargaining in southern Mexico, poorer states such as Oaxaca and Chiapas in Particular. It's no longer appropriate nor acceptable practice to hard bargain. Remember what that 20 peso savings means to you, as compared to what it might mean to the vendor in a Oaxacan craft workshop or market stall.
