The Cuban System of Education
One of the major sources of pride in Cuba is their literacy rate and their educational system. When the Spanish colonists left in 1898 only about 35% of the people could read and write. By the year 2000 the literacy rate was 97% for Cubans between the ages of 15 and 24!
