Volunteer Chiropractor in Africa
Being a Volunteer Chiropractor in Africa is not your typical patient doctor experience. Patients would come in, sit down and point, the only word I knew was DORR! This means pain and I had no idea how to say it correctly. I mostly got blank looks and a continuation of rambling words. They expected that when a medical professional came to work in Luanda, Angola they would be prepared for the language change, I wasn't. So I would stumble through my exam going totally off feel and obvious indicators. Recognising the owes and epees and the squishing of ouching faces was a highly important detail. That was our only effective communication.
