Generally speaking, traffic via land on the island of Rhodes is quite difficult. Unfortunately the road network, mostly developed by the Italians in the beginning of the century, remains unchanged for most of its part. Of course in the early 20th century, when the roads were constructed, Italians had not foreseen the rapid tourist expansion on the island.
