A Historical and Cultural View of Bath: A Brief Visitor Guide
Baths' naturally occurring underground geothermal waters have been used for their therapeutic properties for more than a thousand years. Historically, they have been reputed to have been discovered by legendary king of the Britons Bladud (or Blaiddyd) around in 863BC. This pre-dates England's occupation by the Roman Empire and their establishment of a major settlement in Bath, which saw the construction of the ancient Roman Baths which are still frequented today by many visitors.
