Malta close to the heel of Italy in the Mediterranean is a more fascinating place than many people give it credit for, and when you go there you will find some remarkable sights and sounds you won't forget. This is very much the case in Marsaxlokk where bobbing in the sea, staring at passers-by, the eyes of a luzzu appear to follow you as you walk along the promenade in what is Malta's premier fishing port. Traditionally painted in red, blue, yellow and occasionally green, boats line the waterfront of this otherwise small village on Malta's southeast coast.
