An Artistic Exploration of Dresden

An Artistic Exploration of Dresden

Located in a valley near the River Elbe, on the eastern part of the country nearby the Czech border, Dresden is perhaps best known for the controversial bombing by the Allied Powers during World War II. During this bombing the city was almost completely destroyed; but over the next 40 years it was rebuilt and some of the older parts of the inner city were entirely reconstructed. Today, this beautiful city is reaffirming the cultural authority it once held in the days when Richard Wagner presented his original works. An educational visit to Dresden will immerse art and history students into a world of culture and some of the major museums are absolute must-sees: among these are the Zwinger, the Procession of Princes, and the Albertinum.
