Where Wales Begins

The little market town of Welshpool situated on the Wales-England Border in Powys describes itself as the place \'Where Wales Begins\" although that title could also apply to one or two other border towns well known to the tourist on holiday in Wales. Welshpool became a borough under the title of Burgus de Pola by charter in 1263 and its Welsh name Trallwng is not particularly optimistic since its means marshy or sinking land.
